welcome to october! fall is really setting in here in the city: jackets&sweaters, scarves, boots--all finally necessary! the leaves are scurrying around in the gutters and there seems to be nothing better than a hot-cuppa-something to relax with. ahhh, i love it!
the downside? teachers are piling up the homework. between that, going to class, keeping a part time job, and helping out at DIY Hards, ya girl has been (and likely will be) a little slow with the updates (and the crafts!). that said, i have a few things that i'll be finishing up within the next week that i'm more than excited to share, so look out for that. :)
speaking of DIY Hards, their grand opening party was a hit! there was sewing and screen printing galore, homemade cakes and vegan cookies, and a warm crowd to boot. the screen that we worked so hard hand-painting the night before was put to good use, and i'm so happy with how it turned out!
you have no idea how grateful i am to be a part of a this burgeoning independent business. i learn so much every single time i go in, and it's so inspiring to see girls not much older than me making a life out of what they love. the store has been getting a lot of publicity lately, including an article in time out chicago. check it out if you have the time!
they're hosting another party on october 16th, this time with a "build your own monster" workshop &halloween theme. i can't wait!
how is fall treating you?

PS: just a little something to make you smile. . . the front doors to all of the apartments in our complex are really thin and last night while i was out getting the mail, i overheard our neighbors singing a duet to "since u been gone" by kelly clarkson. hopefully they don't hear me singing along with with my radio rap tonight, or any other night for that matter. hahah! :X
1: Is that Jonny Depp at the party??
ReplyDelete2: When Shane and I were sitting outside of your apartment we heard some pretty awesome singing going on next door too, I think Sublime was included.
1. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID TO BRYCE AFTER I MET HIM.
ReplyDelete2. yeah, erik mckay actually lives across our back porch. he sings his heart out to acoustic jams more often than not, mostly reminiscent of the spill canvas . . .
